Carlton Chapel House, Arctic Street
Corbett and Tasker are the Structural Engineers responsible for the major refurbishment and upgrade of this 1980’s concrete and masonry block of flats to EnerpPHit standards. - the relevant ‘PassivHaus’ standards for retrofit projects. This original 80’s modernist building was designed by Christopher Dean Associates and was completed in 1983.
The thermal envelope of the building is being upgraded, but the structure is being strengthened and repaired as well, to remedy extensive cracking and enable the structure to take additional loads. Airtightness test results have so far indicated very good results: 0.4 changes of air per hour (EnerPHit require 1 change per hour).
The project is due on site during 2018 and the Architects for the scheme are Anne Thorne Architects.
